Art Work Density

I'm in the process of working on a D20 OGL product. It will be about 128 long. I have 80 pages that have no art on them (they other 48 pages contain maps, character pics etc).

I want to put 20 pics (about 1/4 page in size) on those remaining 80 pages.

Is that enough art? Most of the books I look thru seem to have a pic every 4 pages or so.

You will get vastly differing opinions but every four pages is about right. THere are several threads over in the RPG.net business section and some in the e-Publisher forum here.

My rule of thumb is....

...1 piece of art for every five pages.
