I may be a player but one of my DMs wanted someone to play a rogue in his game so that's why I chose "rogue".

Other than that, I don't care. We don't have a problem with getting someone to play the cleric.

Clerics, but this is edition-specific. Ever since 3.5e, everyone wants to play a druid.

Nobody has played a druid since the last game kinda went sour and all but me made new characters. I wanted to keep my paladin in that game, despite the flak from the DM and his POV regarding paladins.

I like playing clerics. Had better luck keepin' them alive than rangers.... ;) Even with my "battle clerics"... they tend to stay alive despite being in the middle of the fight.

Actually, that probably takes a close second to cleric. But that's a fight I've given up. Right now, I have a campaign that will take us into Naranjan, and no PCs are positioned to "get it."

Clerics are never a problem for me. I have two in my campaign right now. I would not mind a few more fighters or arcane magic users, but really I'm happy with whatever folks want to play.

While I'm able to easily adapt for the lack of characters, I chose cleric since the last one that my group actually played was in second edition.

Admittedly one of my players played a cleric in 2e for what had to be 3 years of realtime campaigning, and is probably more interested in playing something 'different' now.

I've always had to pick up the slack and drop in an NPC cleric simply to balance out some undead-heavy storylines, but let the players know before the most recent campaign started that there would likely *not* be a priestly/healer type NPC tagging along with them, unless the story dictated so.

But I balance that out with more healing potions (and even more potent potions), as well as using the reserve hit point rules from Unearthed Arcana. After a near disaster and TPK of the group, I've also hashed out a plan with one player to use action points as a way to 'save oneself' if slamed too harshly. After years of running campaigns, I'm at the point where I don't really want character after character dying while new ones would have to find ways to 'drop into' the storyline.

But yes, more clerics, shamans, or mystics would be nice to see..

..Maybe a Psion too.

I voted Other. As GM I've never felt I needed a particular mix of classes for my games, I'm happy to run with whatever my players come up with to play.

Funnily enough when I join an existing group as a player, my first look is at what classes and specialisations others are playing, and my first question is: "What niches do you need filled?" :)

I went with Monks though Clerics and Wizards are surprisingly underplayed in my games(they love Sorcerors). I do have a new player starting who's going to be a monk though, so that should be interesting.
