I'd also like it noted that everytime people speculated about the nature of the Shadow power source, I told them, "Shadowcaster plus Shadow Hand style swordsage." And look! The assassin is a shadow hand style swordsage translated into 4e!

*gloats because D&D prognostication is SERIOUS BUSINESS*

I'm really excited - currently am playing a Goblin Rogue who I would love to convert over to this ;)

I like the dark-vision feat as well... nice.

Hmm. How very blah. :erm:

Not seeing the "this is why we decided this worthy of its own class" element.
1. Story motivation: giving self over to Shadowfell in some way
2. Different, and interesting, mechanic: striker damage builds up over time, presumably through studying or becoming more in tune with the target
3. Too lazy to look at the docs again, but I'm sure that there's at least a 3 in there. ;)

Since "Shadow" is a power source, I'm that much more convinced that Necromancer will be a class in the PHB3 as well.
Except that Shadow, the source the Necromancer is most likely to use, will not be in PHB3. PHB3 is Psionics, Divine, Primal. The only way the Necromancer will appear is if it's Divine, which imo would be a mistake, but eh.
