Oh my god, Smendrick is in the poll! I came to the thread just to mention him as a write-in, but there he is! Awesome.

Truth be told though, he’s not really a wizard in D&D terms. He’s a wild magic sorcerer who thinks he’s a wizard. That’s why his magic always goes wrong until he learns to stop trying to force it to do his bidding and allow it to work through him as it will.

(More specifically, he’s an unwitting sorcerer studying to be a wizard under one of the most famous and powerful wizards of all time, and he sucks at it because he has pretty low Intelligence. But his background and his mentor aren’t mentioned in the film version.)

I voted for him anyway because he’s one of my favorite fictional characters period. But he’s definitely a sorcerer.
