D&D General BG3 Massive Spoiler Thread

So, I've only two things left to do in Act 1: Auntie Ethel and Adamantine Forge. Found the Forge, got the pieces, just deciding what to make. Not sure how to deal with Ethel ... I couldn't go get through the door and backed up to an earlier save where I've yet to go into the valley. Would like to save the brothers, but I feel like that's impossible.
I killed one brother (overzealous thunderwave) and knocked out the other, but the game treated me as having killed both.

I think I've royally screwed up Grymforge. I went there early in my journey through the Underdark, unlocked the fast travel point and heard about some guy trapped in a cave-in. Rather than venture deeper I figured, I should really clear out the rest of the general Underdark map, see if there are any more quests to pick up for the forge.

So I teleport out, immediately get a message that the guy in the cave-in is dead. That seems arbitrary, but whatever. I spend awhile exploring, do indeed pick up several more quests and pointers. And when I get back there, the entire place has been cleared out, everyone's left.

I'm a bit miffed honestly, there wasn't a hint of there being any kind of time-limit on exploring that area, aside from maybe the guy in the cave-in. And it wasn't even a matter of time - it seems like the area cleared out the moment I travelled away, even though that's meant to be an instantaneous teleport.

I ended up deciding to skip both after both ... might have bugged out on me(?). Even though I made the checks, and told the door I could just go right through it, I got the visual of the hag burning the door and then I was unable to continue.

In the Forge ... I found the boss fight just too annoying to try to continue. I got the first Hammer blow, but even after superheating him again, he keeps being immune to follow up strikes, meanwhile, those BS quake attacks are just impossible to deal with. So, I just said Eff it, onto Moonrise tower.

Where I get into even more BS fights. Seriously debating dropping down to easy, but whatever. I've just got to figure out how to
save Isobel from Marcus

There, I can help you. This one's a really annoying interface screw. The vision of the hag passing through the door is meant to tell you that it's insubstantial - you can walk right through it. Trouble is, it's huge, and clicking on it again just triggers the dialogue.

You have to move the camera through that wall, far enough that you can click on the floor beyond the door instead of the door itself.

Given that you can scroll-wheel zoom right into a 3rd-person view in this game, I really wish there was an option to use WASD movement.

So yeah, once you learn to use the terrain and other features in the game, fights are just plain crazy, rivaling some of the completely oddball stuff I've seen in tabletop sessions. I completed the fight against the hobgoblin boss in the goblin camp tonight, starting with a well-placed barrel of oil I was carrying around, which took out about half the foes when Asterion blew it up from the balcony above. Shadowheart kept my pally up in the fight against the boss and then got a hold person off, allowing my pally to shove him into the spider pit. A fortuitous mis-click caused Asterion to bring down a flaming brazier near the door where the guards were about to come in, so Gale simply cast grease under them, almost taking them down singlehandedly. After that, it was just finish off those guards and snipe down the boss and the spiders from above. Sneak Asterion over to Halsin to say it's done, feather fall everyone else into the spider pit to loot, and then fast travel out of there!

So I teleport out, immediately get a message that the guy in the cave-in is dead.
I wouldn't worry, he is a tit. In EA I quite deliberately rested two days whilst he died slowly of poison gas.

But it sounds like a bug. In EA I got a warning, and he didn't die until the second rest.

I encountered an annoying situation when i was trying to escort the goblin prisoner out and I had to stop and reroll the Persuasion check to avoid a fight every time I encountered a new NPC. I finally just let them have her, it was so annoying. Which is too bad, I was interested to see what happened when i took her to her clan.

There is a way to sneak her out of that area without meeting any of those NPCs.

I finally got the "reveal" camp event. I am super stoked. I love this game.

Also, I feel severely under leveled to deal with the goblin camp. If I go after all 3 leaders in succession, I will get massacred. What am I doing wrong?

Approaching the fights straight is tough. But you can be sneaky about it and make it MUCH easier on yourself. Not too give too much away, but there are ways to make each of the fights significantly easier

One is very easy to beat, the second a bit tougher. The third takes some strategizing. However, if you do the first two without any other goblins noticing and becoming hostile (which you can do fairly easily), you can do a long rest and come back and do the last one without Haslin leaving.
