Break a stereotype/Make a stereotype

Thought it might be fun to start a thread for collecting stories of folks have done something that, on the surface, seems to go against an established stereotype but actually supports it.

My example: I have decided to reinforce the stereotype of physically frail elves better suited to matters of the mind by making a majority of their fighting npcs barbarians. They still get lower ability scores assigned to strength and con (probably boosted slightly above average by rage) and raging is their default state in any battle. Now the effectiveness of melee elves in my settings will drop off dramatically after just a few rounds. They will become winded quickly and are usually only good for one battle a day.

Anyone else?
