Another thread got me thinking about a potential bladesinger build using a Bugbear wielding a quarterstaff.
The basics would be a 16 Strength, 14 Dex, 14 Int, 12 constitution. PAM at 4th level and warcaster at 8th.
At this point 2 attacks,1d4+3, 1d6/1d8+3, then a cantrip every turn. Can either be from 10 feat or close in using BB. Alternatively if you get athletics you can make a booming blade attack and then try to shove to get separation and then do a pole arm bonus attack with your reach and back away without causing an AOO.
Once warcaster comes online you can hit an enemy with shocking grasp, tasha's mind whip, frostbite or sapping sting when they close with you, taking away their reaction, taking their attack, knocking them prone or giving disadvantage. Or you can just go booming blade for damage. Or you could go nova and use Psychic Lance.
On the downside AC is good in bladesong but not great and bad out of bladesong. Hps are low too unless you upcast false life.
