Building Starships

Take a look at the cover of the Starship Construction Manual, part of the upcoming What's O.L.D. is N.E.W. line. As you may know, the starter kit was released a month or so ago, and the first of the three main core rulebooks, N.E.W., is currently in layout. The Starship Construction Manual allows ship captains and engineers to upgrade ships, or to build starships from scratch using a wide range of components from propulsion systems to weapons to shield generators to sick bays to mess halls. Whether you want to build a small freighter or a gigantic supercarrier, this book allows you to build ships fully compatible with WOIN's starship combat rules. There is not yet a release date announced for this particular book.

For comparison, the milky way galaxy is about 30,000 parsecs in diameter. This particular ship has an operational range roughly 1/8 of the diameter of our galaxy.

Well, that was fun

Correct. Very Star Trek! The book contains rules for Star Wars style FTL travel where you can cross a galaxy in a few hours or days, too, as well as propulsion systems with operational ranges which will barely get you out of the solar system; very scaleable. But that particular ship is very Trek-influenced.

Operational range just means you need to refuel somehow.
