Smoothy, round 7, AC 22(+2), hp 31/36
"
You! Move to there!" Smoothedcrest calls to the allies on his left. "
And you, move too! Beast will taste my steel for one last horror when I move it to meet you!"As Smoothedcrest calls out, he strikes at the arm attacking Xavier and slices deep into the flesh, though providing no great wound to the creature. Just after striking, he raises his shield and bounds backward till his foot hits a large stone. Crouching against it, he coils like a great armored tiger eager to strike.
OOC: Smoothy is asking everyone to move a 5' step to the West, at least to clear the way so that he can make a charge attack. Try not to block its west flank, because the "move it to meet you" comment refers to an upcoming attempt to Bull Rush. Also, there's a very good chance you'll get to make an AoO next round, so you might as well decide on what attack you'll make and roll it just in case.
[sblock=Actions]
To hit (1d20+10=28), and
damage (2d6+6=11). Smoothy uses a swift action to change his stance to Stonefoot Stance (+2 bonus on Strength checks and +2 bonus to AC against larger foes), and then moves 15' East, provoking at AoO I'm sure.
Round 8:
If the Boneclaw follows, Smoothy is going to just attack it again. I'm sure that a sense motive could allow it to recognize that Smoothy is setting up to make a charge attack.
If the Boneclaw doesn't follow:
Breathing heavily already, Smoothedcrest lifts his shield to his eyes, pulls it tight against his shoulder, and pounces, running with his great longsword trailing behind, disturbing the puffs of dust that billow out from his pounding steps. As he closes, he ducks low, and brings the shield up into the chest of the monstrosity, while swinging his sword upward, between the beast's legs.
Smoothy is going to use the Charging Minotaur maneuver. This is a Bull Rush that does not provoke AoO (though thanks to its reach it is entitled to one anyway, due to Smoothy's movement). This requires that he charges, which is why he gained 15' distance.
His
attack roll (1d20=16) (+10, +2 for the charge, = 28, sorry I forgot to include bonuses in the die roll). His AC during this round is 24-2=22 because of the charge. Next is his
Bull Rush attempt (bonuses are +4 gained for being almost-Large, +2 to Str checks from stance, +5 Str) (1d20+4+2+5=31) and by Autur, a natural 20!
Smoothy is going to push him into the cart (which, since it's on wheels, shouldn't really offer much resistance), but only 5 feet, and Smoothy is not moving with the Boneclaw, so he should end up being in the next square east of the creautre. On the other hand, instead of having the cart move, you could rule that (if it fails to resist the Bull Rush) it is instead squeezed in a tight space, meaning it takes a –4 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to AC. That movement should be enough to provoke AoO's from the rest of the party. During the Charging Minotaur attack, Smoothy also stabs into the beast, dealing more mediocre
longsword damage (2d6+6=12). Since Charging Minotaur is not a swift action, at the end of this maneuver Smoothy switches back to the Iron Guard's Glare stance, imposing a -4 penalty to the creature if it tries to attack anyone but Smoothy. However, this drops his +2 AC vs. larger creatures, so at the beginning of the next round Smoothy retains the charge penalty, so his AC will be 20 until his own turn.
