[CAG] Ceru

BSF

Explorer
Ok, we all know that Ceru is that funky foreigner dude with the wikkid accent. We also know that he has a tendency to try to be peacemaker and thinks that he can personally make the world a happier place. Oh, and Ceru has no real idea how non-island societies work, and he doesn't know what money is for. And, he asks Spirits to cast spells for him and he likes to dream. Ceru is definitely different.

So, what is Ceru looking at doing long term? Anything special that he is currently looking for? His first encounter with Druids was a little ... odd. His second encounter with Druids was probably a bit more along the lines of what he was expecting.

And how about that lucid dreaming? ;)

Ceru has one major goal he must work to, though unfortunately he does not know what it is. When he left his islands, he was given certain information (from various sources) that gave him some clues about what he was to accomplish. This came in the form of several minor goals, or sub-goals to the main one. Some of these are more straight forward than others.
For example, one of Ceru's goals is to develop his shamanic skills to a point that would allow him to complete whatever he must. Chances are, this would be a fairly high level, perhaps even epic? Another goal is to learn about the world, make many friends and allies, and generally do good. This is more of a personal goal than a spiritual goal. Beyond that there are several more minor goals, such as learning more about his ancestor spirit - a great warrior of ages past, or learning more about the winged serpent that is the focus of his spiritual beliefs, or learning how to wield the world of dreams in the same manor as the shamans before him. Also, there are two other shamans traveling the world in the same way Ceru is. He wishes to discover what their intentions are (good or evil basically) and how their fate is linked to his.

These goals might seem vague, but they are no clearer to Ceru himself. He did not originally intend to arrive in Stormhaven, nor did he intend to arrive anywhere. Simply, that is where he arrived, thanks to the suggestions of several aquaintances. As the facts present themselves, Ceru will make a decision based on what he believes is the best course of action at the time.

Ceru's Spirit Totem - Elder

Elder is the entity through which Ceru is connected to all other spirits. He was once a great leader of Ceru's people, though the details of his accomplishments have been lost over the centuries. Now he guides Ceru to his destiny, and as Ceru becomes more enlightened, Elder is more willing to reveal to Ceru what he must do in this world. The powers granted to Ceru through Elder focus on being able to interact with other Spirits in a variety of ways. When Elder speaks to Ceru he tends to provide enough clues to allow him to figure it out himself. If Ceru asks a question, Elder usually sounds like he is indifferent about whether or not Ceru recieves an answer, though the information he provides is always helpful in some manner. In general though, Elder will contribute bits of information to Ceru that would tend to pertain to the knowledge of Spirits and anything spirit related. In return for the power that Elder grants Ceru, he asks that in return, Ceru never speak the name of those who he would consider a nemesis. Only recently has Ceru began to understand why this would be Elder's request. In speaking the name of a nemesis, that being would gain power. Through Elder's "hints" Ceru has come to realize that this is somehow tied into the power known as Lady Felicia. As Ceru begins to understand this relationship more, he may fall back into good graces with Lady Felicia.

Ceru's Dream Totem - Hawk

Hawk is the spirit representative of the dream realm. This realm exists simultaneously with the material plane, but in a much different way than planes such as the ethereal or astral planes. Those beings who travel planes find themselves unable to reach the realm of dreams through standard means, though some have unlocked the secrets of doing so. Once in the realm of dreams, the "rules" of the real world do not count, and the rules of the mind dominate. Hawk grants Ceru powers born of this realm so that he may seek out the secrets buried in the minds of himself and others. Hawk tends to speak to Ceru only in brief messages that range from extremely specific to vauge beyond comprehension. In many ways it is like remembering a dream, or trying to remember a dream that has escaped you. Hawks knowledge often pertains to things that are out of the ordinary in some way or another, such as if there is something that Ceru should see or know, but is unable to for some reason. In return for the powers granted by Hawk, as well as the powers granted by Snake, Ceru is unable to allow a being from any plane other than his home plane to see his face. Doing this allows Ceru to interact with such creatures without displaying his emotions in the process, whether it be awe for a creature of great good or hatred toward a creature of great evil. The Spirits have assured him that when he is ready, there would be opportunities to interact with these sorts of beings, and when that time comes he must be ready to deal with the meeting and not be distracted by his emotions.

Ceru's Summoning Totem - Snake

Snake is the Spirit that allows Ceru to call others to his aid. Currently, Ceru is able to summon snakes and birds, though in the future he may gain the favor of other spirits and their animal kind. Snake rarely provides Ceru direct information. Instead, Snake will often reply to one of Ceru's questions by telling him who would likely be able to give him a direct answer. He always urges Ceru to be doing something helpful, and does not hesitate to point out to Ceru if somebody else in the group is not being helpful in some way. Snake and Hawk have reached an agreement in terms of what they ask of Ceru in return for the powers they grant him. This being that he must not show his face in the presence of an outsider. Interestingly, the power that Snake grants to Ceru could lead to interaction with outsiders.

Ceru's Force Totem - Tortoise

Tortoise is Ceru's newest Spirit guide. After freeing the souls of the people trapped in the Merinthian manor, Tortoise stepped forward to give Ceru new powers. Specifically, he gave Ceru the power to physically interact with most Spirits - even those that are not fully materialized. There is an emphasis on defense with the powers Tortoise grants, though there are a few offensive spells. This emphasis though is definately reflected in Tortoise's personality. He urges Ceru to always be safe and cautious, and does not hesitate to point out something that may be a threat to Ceru and his party. Unfortunately, because it takes Tortoise a while to gather himself and spit out a message, he sometimes may warn Ceru of an ambush, after the group has already fought off their attackers. Ceru appreciates the effort though and tries to follow Tortoise's advice on safety and caution whenever he can. In return for the powers Tortoise grants, he requested that Ceru no longer wield a metal weapon against an enemy. Tortoise's reasoning is that should Ceru actually need to attack (instead of defending all the time), that the attack spells he provided should be enough. Ceru feels that between those spells and the help Ceru can request from Snake, this is an easy enough request to live up to.
