There is admittedly a part of me when reading Candela Obscura that wonders why I shouldn't just play CoC or Vaesen instead. The latter has much of the same archetypes.

I mean, that is why there are multiple games in the same genre space: people have preferences. Maybe you like the core mechanic better, or the writing style, or the art style, or maybe you like the way CR plays it. "Why does this exist when there are already other gaslamp fantasy games" is kind of a weird question in a hobby and industry absolutely teaming with overlapping games.

As an aside: the Darrington Press store page does not say anything about a PDF. I assume it will get released as one, but I was hoping to know if buying the hardcopy will include getting a PDF. (For the record, i am highly critical of any game that does not include a PDF when you buy the dead tree.)
