I loved AvP 2 and the Primal Hunt expansion. Unfortunately I've had enough difficulty making it run on Vista that I've given up.
An older one, if you can find it, is Space Hulk. I've you've got an old Playstation you can find a Playstation version of it but there was also a Win95 version released. IMHO it better captured the suspense of Alien(s) far better than AvP. It combined strategy with FPS extremely well. You could give orders to your entire squad of marines but you could only directly control one of them in FPS mode at any given time. You also had a limited amount of time in which to give orders before the "pause" expired... this greatly increased the suspense and tension.
