Kicking out is sort of reduntant for a guy who just went through the Total Perspective Vortex without the angel food cake...

Was Mastemind ever BoEM? He was Hellfire Club during Dark Phoenix, and that was my first exposure to him... But he was a major scoundrel!

Mastermind was an original member, along with Toad, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver. Many of the first ten issues of the comic dealt with the BoEM and X-Men fighting over new members. Candidates included Unus the Untouchable, the Blob, and Namor. When the two teams fought for the Stranger, they didn't realize he was an extra-terrestrial. The first BoEM split when the Stranger took Magneto and Toad into space (X-Men 11).

The three remaining went their seperate ways, with Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver joining the second Avengers team in issue 16. From that point forward, Mastermind bounced around the MU for years as a solo act.
