Level Up (A5E) Crossbow Expertise Question

Hello fellow A5E'ers,

Crossbow Expertise's third ability states a feat holder can make an attack as a bonus action with a hand crossbow in their off-hand when accompanied by an attack action from a one handed weapon.

The hand crossbow has the dual weilding property which allows a user to use a bonus action to make an attack with the off-hand while wielding a non-heavy quality weapon in the main hand.

Two weapon fighting states the off hand weapon is melee (or thrown), so I get why you would give the hand-crossbow dual wield to clear up the ambiguity that it could be used "bolter and chainsword style".

But this all seems to invalidate the purpose of the third ability of Crossbow Expertise as, outside of not stating the main weapon has to be non-heavy in quality, the effect is the same as the weapons base quality.

Is there a reason for this? If not, are there any viable / practiced house rules or official errata I've missed to address it?

Thanks in advance!

It's probably there in you have another ability, like a maneuver, that lets you wield heavy or two-handed weapons in one hand.
