DF's "Those Damn Heroes"

Toaddy holds his common mace above his head. He croaks and gurgles, eyes blinking unevenly. Seems the toadman is holding his breath, each time puffing more. He outstretches his arm, and it glows with a greenish energy. The others get away from the glow, afraid of radiation. The glowing weapon sure is scary, and probably would get you some nasty diseases after some 20 years or so of use, but everybody knows adventures never last that long, less so if they are bandits or NPCs; so Toaddy was not scared.
He braces himself for the fight, farting profusely. A disgusting smell starts rising around him, making breathing normally a challenging activity.

OOC: Using Weapon of the gods on mace: +1d6 dmg, -2 AC to victims. Also activating Rancid Air: Aura 2, enemies in aura that spend a HS become weakened. This character is disgustingly awesome to role play!

As Toaddy begins to releash his noxious gases into the air Houndaer removes his daggers from their respective sheaths and with a wicked grin he readies himself just offset from the door, as to not get hit by it if they kick it in instead, to rend the first target that enters.

Karrak nods to Mikal, "Aye, but we had a few surprises of our own for them" the cheerful dwarf says with a smile, then quiets as he sees the frogman hold his mace up. The dwarf draws his large hammer and gets ready.

OOC: Ready Thorn Strike for when the door is kicked down, or opened on the first enemy within 2 squares

Mikal lowers his head and starts to mumble words in the arcane language. He holds himself very still and until he raises his head and aims a hand at the door.

The soft blue glow of a spell emanates from his palm and his face looks very determined.

Sal nods and unsheathes his blades, before almost casually walking up to the entrance. He raises his leg and smashes it down into the door.

Despite Sal's attempt at stone-cold badassery, the door holds, but shudders under the impact of his booted kick.

"What the hell?" asks the small, disconcerted voice. "You hear that, Ulf?"

"Something's going on, little one" replies the voice of a tall, regal-sounding man. "Let us investigate."

"Be ready for anything."

With that, the padlock clicks open. "Got it!" exclaims the little voice. With a thud, the door swings ajar. The iron bars clatter against a support pillar. Standing in the open doorway are three figures.

Mox, the halfling rogue, crouching at the threshold. He clutches a lockpick in one hand and a gleaming dirk in the other.

Ulfric, the human paladin, glowing in a soft radiant light, his golden hair and beard quite lovely and Thor-like. He stands next to Mox.

A'riel
, the eladrin wizard, her eyes ablaze with purple arcane energy. Her otherwise beauteous face twisted into a manic grin. She stands in the back.

The heroes look surprised, staring inward, to see such a strange collective of bandits there to greet them. "Damn," mutters the wizard. "Shouldn't've left Jeffrey in the tavern."

Almost as if to punctuate her comment with a punchline, Tanly's arrow trap belatedly springs into action, sending a shaft of wood and steel to puncture Ulfric's plate mail and
deliver a mild wound to his knee.

"By Odin's eye!" he cries.

GM: All right, boys. Time to resolve those readied actions. You can go in whatever order you post; it doesn't really matter. When you roll for that, please also include an initiative roll. If Inspiratorium doesn't post by this time tomorrow, I'll take command of Sal for the time being. Good luck!

"Well hello little one!" Houndaer relies as he makes a quick jab at Mox.

[sblock=OOC]WOW! Everything that could have went wrong did except the normal damage roll. Since I rolled a Nat 1 I guess that is an auto miss...damn dice roller.[/sblock]

A soft yellow light erupts in the center of them and moves outwards touching each of them in turn.

Houndaer lunges into the fight, slicing his blade right at Mox. His dagger snapped outward at throat level. It should have been a perfect cut. But then Houndaer realized that Mox is a halfling, and thus his throat was in a significantly different place from where he had guessed. The halfling chuckles.

His laugh doesn't echo for long, though, as a slow-rolling wave of arcane energy sweeps past him and his allies. "Uh-oh." The pulse seems to seep into his very consciousness, as it does with A'riel. Ulfric, however, seems to withstand the attack. "Wake up!" he cries to his teammates. "Agh, you amateurs." After he's finished deriding his teammates' endurance, his eyes get heavy too. Perhaps the spell worked, or maybe he's just bored. But he seems to be moving slowly.
