Dying and Temp HP

If you're dying and you get temp hit points, do you stabilize/get back up?

Example:
The fighter is hit and she goes down to -5 hp. On the cleric's turn, he uses Sacred Flame to give the fighter 8 temp hp. Does this count as receiving healing? Is the fighter up and fighting, or down and out?

No. As described on pp. 292-293 of the PHB, temp hp are not real hit points and do not add to your hit point total. In your example, the fighter is at -5 hp with 8 temporary hp. She's still dying, because her hit points are at 0 or less.

If she is attacked, any damage will be knocked off of her temp hp first, though.

I will also add that if you are bloodied and you get temp hp's that bring you over the bloodied value you are still considered bloodied.

Also, you are supposed to track them seperately. If you have 25 HP and 5 temp HP that is how they should be expressed. Not as 30 HP.

Hope that helps!
