Yes, of course, blame it on the drugs. Is it possible that perhaps you required the anti-psychotics? Is it possible that perhaps you have some illness that has created this fiction in your mind? This post finds me in a run-down hotel somewhere in Kentucky.

I thought I eluded them saturday, but I was wrong. The past 36 hours have been a nightmare trek on side-roads as I jig-sawed my way through 5 five states. I won't be staying here long. I can't afford to stay in one place anymore. It's just too dangerous.

Saturday night I barely escaped capture. I can only describe the experience as surreal.

I woke up from my fitful rest to find my hotel room suddenly filled with a brilliant white light. I could see shadows of figures outside the door; short beings with oval shaped heads. I hastily arranged pillows under the blanket to make it look like I was still sleeping, then ran for the bathroom. I managed to grab my lap-top and duck out through the bathroom window.

As I did, I heard a loud bang from inside the room, as if the door had been forced open. by then I was in my underwear and had to find an all-night laundromat so I could steal some clothes. I spent part of the night behind a trash dumpster, waiting until I could go back and get my car.

Since then it's been nothing but driving. My credit card has been cancelled, so I'm waiting on a money transfer to go through before I take off again.

Also, why does no one ever use even simple encryption for this sort of thing. It makes things much more interesting:

It's a variation on an WWII cipher. Basically, it's a simple letter replacement (with space added, for 27 characters). The codeword gives you a replacement matrix by writing the codeword out on one line then the rest of the alphabet in order below it (skipping those letters already used in the codeword).

Then you write an alphabetical replacement matrix in columns (in the same shape as the other). You can also do a simple row-by-row, but then space doesn't become encrypted.

You then just match up one to another (since you are decrypting you go from the second to the first:

"u" is the 4th letter in the 4th row which matches "s" in the other matrix. You can also see that "l" matches up to space (_), making "l" the character that breaks words:

This encryption method would only be effective if codewords were changed often and the messages were very short. Otherwise cryptanalysis will give you a letter distribution that will allow you to crack it. For example, the letter E is the most common letter in the English language, so you can find the replacement for E by seeing which character appears most often.

It's pretty easy to come up with simple encryption schemes like this. For real encryption, you can download GPG to encrypt messages using asymmetric encryption, which allows you to receive messages that are near uncrackable.
