EB's Adventuring in the Days of Yore - Tyranny of Dragons - IC

"Sorry, Ma'a--" Tina starts but sees Xull'avin's face and immediately laughs. "Well you said you aren't a fellow. In any case, the sky cannot cave in from what I've seen. But I don't see that as the issue at hand. Attacking dragon, cultists looting the city, kobolds helping the cultists. The wind won't hurt us today." She turns back to the lord of the castle. "So is there a plan? Why would the cultists be gathering at the church?"

images (2).jpgPutting a hand to his forehead, the lord of Greenest sighs, "I am sorry to keep you like this, but you must understand our plight. Let us see what they are doing at the church. Bring him along."

He leads the small group a little further down the wall until they can see the church and its troubles.

"After the treasure inside, if what this young lady says is true," Lord Nighthill adds. "I would let them at it too, if not for knowing that most of the townfolk fled to the church for safety."

"Whomever they don't kill will be taken as slaves," Xull'ivan says looking over the walls at the two burning buildings.

"Then we need to get as many out of their before they break down the doors. A large force may not make it, but a small force could follow the creek and get in over the back walls and hopefully inside. But we need to find some volunteers and quickly."

"My two companions will be willing to come. More than three though is probably advised. We already walked through the creek to get here to the keep." Tina says looking down at her wet boots. "But, even if we sneak into the church from behind, how do we rescue the townsfolk? Is there a way through the outer wall of the church that doesn't require climbing?"

Sorry, never been one for archery." admits William. He catches Tina's gesture, "Watch the bags." he says to Gutter and heads after her, catching up just in time to hear Lord Nighthill talk about rescuing villagers from the church, "...But we need to find some volunteers."

"I won't be much use here on the walls." William confirms Tina's statement, "But we will need a better strategy than, "run really fast to the keep"to get them out."

OOC: Sorry for the absence, I should be more available for the next few weeks.

Is anyone tracking our loot?

"Is anyone tracking our loot?"
I am. haha

Lord Nighthill eyes William up and down and gives a nod of approval. "There is a secret way in and out of the keep that hasn't been used in many years. Once we stored our former wizards things down there we tried to keep it sealed off."

"My lord you can't be serious?" the dwarf interjects. "These people gave away the sally port, and now you want to show them the tunnel? They could all be spies! Trying to discovery all our secrets!"

"We will need to trust someone," Lord Nighthill says trying to calm the dwarven castellan. "And what of you? Do you care to help?" he asks Xull'avin, causing the dwarf to sputter and stare in shock.

Xull looks the Lord over, as if looking at a whiny peasant. “I suppose you’ll be needing my help if you want to succeed. I don’t really have anywhere better to be.”

OOC: We haven't had a chance to open the bags yet. For all we know they contain a cat that may or may not be living. :) I also don't see us leaving the keep with the loot while we go on a mission. Perhaps we end up leaving it in the wizard's sealed off area.

"We were sneaking around the castle trying to avoid that mob of brigands over there." Tina points. "When the sally port just gave way to my hand. In any case, does the secret tunnel lead into the church? I still don't see what we will do when we get there."

"The tunnel actually comes out there," Lord Nighthill says a bit forlorn. "Would that it went to the church. It is really an old drainage tunnel for... for the..."

"For the sewage and waste. A fitting place you ask me." Escobert adds crossing his arms.

"Rude!? Why you little minx. Your lucky to be safely inside these walls, and..."

"Enough Escobert!"
Lord Nighthill says with a bit to much authority. "She is willing to help," he starts a bit more kindly. "Please go and see if you can find others. That Waukeenian priest is always pacing and wanting to go out."

The dwarf gives Tina another hard look before moving off.

"You must excuse him," Lord Nighthill says seriously. "Not only is he a dwarf, and that should tell you much. But his forefathers built this keep and he has been castellan to it since he came of age. I fear he is afraid it all may be razed to the ground."

Lord Nighthill turns back to Xull'ivan. "I hope you are what you say you are, but you must know I can't allow you to go into the town without an escort." He turns to the young guard of the drow. ( Khraos your character) "You will escort this elf and be my eyes and ears out there. Please vouch for him if any of the townsfolk are skeptical, and bring me back any information on why this is all happening."
