I'd note in passing that the huge advantage of this approach is that we get to release far more than a non-consensual approach would have yielded. Compare the Quintessential Elf in book form, with its designation of Open Game Content, to what is on the wiki. You will find that there is far more than was originally released. The cooperation of the publishers - especially Mongoose, which has been extraordinarily cooperative and generous - allows one to clarify obtuse OGC designations and to extract more than the original designation allows. The Grand OGL Wiki is operating on a "permission" basis (they ask permission); so the publisher only needs to withhold that permission.
Absolutely. And notice the important, bolded, sentence here. The great people at Grand OGL Wiki (and you can be one of them!), for instance, has Mongoose's ENTIRE d20 library to cull through. They're not going to get around to Basement Joe anytime soon.
We're always looking for more volunteers.
