Richard gets his rear in motion (Initiative +1) and giving himself a quick check, finds he is able to function. He looks about at his unit and quickly checks to see if there are any life-threatening injuries (Spot +6). If there are none, training takes over and he pulls out his side arm and begins firing at the beast, even while wondering what the thing could be. (What is it?) Knowledge (Behavioral Sci) 2+8+2=12

OOC: Lobo, just to keep things moving I'm going to repeat your last action

Adam faced the huge beast before him without apparent fear, hoping to distract it long enough to let his colleges finish it off. Unfortunately the beast was a more wiley fighter than it looked: he dodged the snapping jaws and the first swipe of claws as the beast rose up on it's back legs only to discover he'd been set up perfectly to take the blow from the other paw. Blood splattered to the ground from the rip in his back, but he managed to stay on his feet dispite the pain (-10hp).

Watching the beast claw it's way into his team mate, Law decided that the proven technique of 'throw more lead' was worth repeating. He watched with satisfaction as at least four rounds slammed into the beast, and then with shock as it kept it's footing. That skin was tougher than it looked, and it looked pretty tough to begin with.

So it was left to Timo to take advantage of the beasts distraction, calmly following through the set routine of the snipers shot and taking the monster in the head. It slumped to the ground, unconscious and bleeding, but the raise and fall of it's huge torso left no-one in doubt as to wether it had survived.

Richard, pushing aside the piece of wreckage he lay under rose to his feet. Practised professional that he was, he quickly noticed that while most of those standing were injured, none of the injuries were life threatening. There had been 12 of them transported, though, which left a number still buried in this wreckage just as he'd been. He recognised the two bodies as Manticores: creatures from medieval legend brought to life.

As the adrenaline rush of the fight fades, our heroes get their first chance to take in the wider surroundings. Washington had been a large facility with a staff of over a hundred. In it's original artic local, supports had been driven deep into the ice and snow to act as foundations in the shifting terrain. Here, those same spikes supported the buildings twenty foot up in the air, at the same altitude the prefab hut had initially appeared. Five buildings in total made up the base: the research labs themselves (including medical facilities), the dorms, a social building, the armoury (and other dangerous/restricted material storage) and a large power generator. In the artic, covered tunnels had connected the buildings, but these had fallen under their own weight after the transition, and each building stood tall as a seperate tower. The only contacts were drooping arcs of power cabling.

Climbing up to the buildings doesn't look too hard, but there is a nasty overhang at the top of the support to get to the entrance (Climb DC 5 to get up the support, DC 15 to get to the entrance falling on a 5 or less).

The entire ensemble sits in the middle of a sunlit, sparesly vegetated plain. Mountains can be seen on the western horizon, and a smudge of green to the north could be a distant forest. South and west the plains heads on, gently undulating, for as far as the eye can see.

Adam looks for a medic to help relieve his pain. Looking behind him he can not see how serious his cut is. "Thanks Captn. Looks like I forgot to juke when I jived."

Adventurer
Ian Raines looks around, speechless for the moment. He takes stock of all that has transpired before speaking.

"I seem to be wounded," he nonchalantly points out. "But none the worse for it. I suggest we treat the badly injured and then check out these buildings. I have a lot of material I'd like to set up inside one of those structures."

"Also... we don't really know if there are more of those things out there," he adds. "Finding cover likely will save our lives in the short term."

"Alright people." The Doctor and Commander comes out in Richard. "None of you are in serious danger, but there are several people who are trapped beneath rubble or are in other ways incapacitated. Capitain," He addresses the soldier in command of the mission, "do your soldier thing, but I want as many people as possible helping me with the casualties. Especially civilians."

Timo shrugs and walks to the area below the structures. "I think I will take a climb up to check things out up there. Someone should keep an eye on our surroundings from a good location."

He slings his rifle over his shoulder after carefully placing the delicate scope in its protective covering. Drawing his pistol, he fires three rounds into the unconcious beast at his feet, firing point blank into its eyes. He then looks for an obvious location to climb.

ooc: Unless there is an objection from one of the officers, Timo climbs up, taking ten to avoid falling. (Climb +6)

"Excuse me, I beg to differ. See this gash," (turns around to show the gash '33% of my hp'), "I think I need some help pronto."

Specialist Liliana Marie

God the traffic seems to be a bit loud this morning and what the hell is making that roaring sound. If those god damn bikers are waking me up again I swear I am going to call the cops on them. And I have got to stop taking bets and drinking those snobbish "boys" under the table, as my body it seems just can not take it anymore. I mean I have had headaches before but never before has my body ached from over drinking.

Hearing the unmistakable voice of my commander the fog begins to clear form my mind and I remember what is going on. I am on a expedition to another dimension, I think, to find out what happened to the previous explorer’s, never a good sign. Finally cracking open my eyes all I see is rubble around me and some kind of support holding up the facility where we wee supposed to land. Remembering now that when we arrived we wee 20' in the air and the fall is why I hurt so much. Thankfully I have had plenty of training so the fall did no real damage or I landed wrong and broke my neck.

Finally managing to get my feet below me I stand up and take stock of my surroundings. I see a few of guys from the expedition getting things organized and...WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!!! Those things must have been the cause of the roaring and the other sounds were the others shooting the hell out of them as their bodies seem to be riddled with holes. Which mind you does not make me feel any better as it looks like it took several rounds of ammunition to take these things down?

Gathering the few supplies I have with me I call out to Richard, "Sir, Specialist Liliana reporting in and if I may, where are we and what is going on? Sorry I missed out on the action and I hope no one was seriously hurt."

Surveying the battlefield, and frowning at his now empty clip of ammo, Law swaps the empty clip for a fresh one and walks over to the strange animals. Toeing it with his boot he says, to no one in particular, "What the hell are these things?"

"Is anyone seriously injured?" He looks around and makes eye contact with the commander before nodding. "Agreed. Anyone able-bodied enough will assist in removing the wreckage from the the casualties here."

"Timo, scale that building and keep a watch out any more of these things. Request permission before opening fire." Addressing everyone he says, "Until we find a source of munitions, try to conserve your ammo."

Capt. Lawdon then sets about helping & directing (with constructive critisism from Commander Richard) the removal of debris from the wounded & unconscious.

"I think you'll live Mr. Weishaupt, but let me see what I can do." He begins to treat the man's wound. "I know this might sound crazy, but I think those were Manticores. I remember them from my Ancient History studies. Greek mythology."
As he finishes up he says to Adam, "I stopped the bleading, and I'll see to it some more later, right now there are men down that I need to see to."
He hurries over to the people he can find and begins trying to revive them. (With no success, right?)

Treat Injury (Resotre HP) (rolled 8)+15(=23) (You can roll it yourself if you'd like) I can take 10 or 20 if you prefer. For 4 HP.
