Flgs in San Diego

Creeping Death

First Post
My family and I are here at San Diego on vacation. Thursday we are going to be at mitsuwa which is here: Full-screen‎Address:

4240 Kearny Mesa Rd
San Diego, CA 92111

What are the best FLGS's in the area? I will be bringing my 7,5, and 2 year olds, so please, point me to a family friendly one.

Thanks

I have no idea what "family friendly" means in this context, but the address you give is about 2 miles from Game Empire.

Game Empire's a pretty good place. I'm friendly with the owner (Cliff), who often accuses me of "taking advantage" of him when I trade in books, since I haggle like a Deveel.

Sometimes, however, the game room smells like an unwashed foot.

Yeah, Game Empire is pretty close to where you're going to be, but for my money I'd head down to Old Town (Congress & Harney) and go to Game Towne. Strikes me as a little classier, more family friendly, etc. Game Towne is definitely my FLGS in San Diego (I live in NorCal now but grew up in S.D.).

EDIT: Also, since Game Towne is in Old Town, if your family gets bored while you pore over minis and RPG books you can direct them to any of the various nearby gift shops or other touristy establishments. And then you can go have a margarita.

Dunno when the last time you were here, but Old Town is starting to get much more commercialized and much less cool. It's sad to watch.

This has nothing to do with anything, but it took me three read-throughs of the title to realize this thread wasn't about fruit.

No soft core porn type posters hanging anywhere.

Thanks, I'll look up their address.

I don't know about figs in San Diego but there's a date festival in Indio.

It took me reading your other post which I answer below to realize you weren't talking about lead figures and hooking up with members of the opposite sex. :) *What does lead figures and dating have to do with each other?*

I still haven't figured that out.

Friendly Local Gaming Store.

Both Game Towne in Old Town and Game Empire are family-friendly. Game Towne is more oriented towards traditional games and like Blackwind says, there's lots of other stuff nearby - it's in the heart of a big shopping/tourist area. The downside of that is that parking can be hard to find there on the weekends (although it does have its own tiny parking lot). Game Empire is more RPG/wargames and has a lot of game tables for people to use.
