Yeah, Spelljammer is Space Fantasy. Just because it's in space doesn't make it science fiction.

Mine was with Star Frontiers, back when they were called the Yazirians. The Star Frontiers RPG debuted back in 1982. So they have been around for a very long time.

I agree with you here, I had seen Yazirian art before but strangely enough never linked it to the 3e Hadozee. In fact I had always thought Yazirian to be more bat-like than monkey.

the new ones look too cartoony to me and the floppy patagium just looks silly

I think the hard line between Fantasy and Science Fiction is a parsec across.

Many things can be both or one to some and the other to others.

Some say that Star Wars is absolutely Sci Fi, some say it’s unquestionably Fantasy, it has wizards with magic swords.

I just think sometimes the categorization should take a back seat.

I am perfectly aware my point was dragons and wizards do not make something feel like fantasy by themselves.

Space fantasy is what they called it back in the day. It always looked more like science-fantasy. Though apparently they’re going for a lot more explicit sci-fi elements now.
