D&D 5E Help me optimize a Monster Slayer Ranger!

First Post
Hello, I'm about to start a new 5E game and I've not played 5E in a loooong time.

The character concept would be that of an Elf (or human) Monster Slayer Ranger; probably using the variant version.

My ideas are:

- melee character, using either TWF or Polearm Master
- some ranged support but no real focus there
- a skill package revolving more about stealth and urban survival than wilderness exploration

Thanks in advance!

Legend
TWF, Polearm Master, and the Slayer's Prey feature all take a bonus action. You only get 1 of those a turn, so it's probably not your best option to try and combine them. Rangers can go sword and shield. Or perhaps take gloomstalker for more stealth focus.

Dex allows both TWF and Bows. Easy enough to switch. Polearm master requires Str, though you can carry some javelins.

Stealth works both in town and out of it, and is Dex based.
