I think the real reason they disallowed mounted skirmish is that when mounted, you can take a full attack and still move (albeit with a penalty). I'd say that as long as you only make one attack, you should be able to get skirmish bonus.

oh right


we onlyplay that if mounted and the mount moves you only get single action. Are you saying your mount can move 60ft and the rider can then take the full attack action?

Only with ranged attacks. See PHB 3.5 pg. 157.

There's probably some good 9swords/scout builds possible. The 9swords classes don't use full attack nearly as much as fighters, relying on special strikes which only take a standard action.

There's also a stance which increases the 5' step to 10', I believe. But it's probably high enough level that you couldn't get to it with more than a couple levels of scout.

Another nifty possibility:

Take a single level of wizard (conjuration specialist) with the abrupt jaunt option from PHBII - this lets you teleport 10' as an immediate action a number of times a day equal to your Int modifier.

Also, speaking of PHBII, the dungeon specialist scout option in there is pretty cool. Check it out.

If you go that route, consider adding in two levels of Barbarian. It will give you back your movement boost... and give you improved uncanny dodge, rage, and a boost to hit points and BAB.

thing to do and our scout is considering is taking a level in wizard as a divner specialist. Their are a half dozen or so 'divination' spells that dont have a somantic component so armour is no problem . True strike for example. If u r just gonna have 1 attack per round make it is as good as possible!

Sort of. He can take a full ranged attack, but not a full melee attack. The reason for the latter is that even though the mount is the one taking the move action, it still takes time for the rider+mount pair to get to where he's going to attack. But he can take some other move action while his horse is moving, and then make an attack when he gets there.

Knight's Move 3rd level cleric spell swift teleport 5ft/2 levels.... draw back you have to move to a flanking position on the enemy, so it's not going to work for an archer Scout. And if you are going Melee Scout then Dervish is the best option.
