Ve-ery minor historical nitpick: I think you might be off by most of a century in your timing for the ship - by the late 1800's warships were mostly metal and more or less mostly steam-powered. If you're basing your ship on the HMS Victory and her ilk you're thinking of the very early 1800's or late 1700's. (the battle of Trafalgar, widely seen as a key moment for this sort of ship, was in 1805)

HMS Victorious was a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched at Bucklers Hard on 20 October 1808, just five years after the previous HMS Victorious had been broken up
