I don't do dungeon crawls for their own sake, but if the players happen to end up in a confined area with discrete passages, I make sure it all makes sense for its history and who uses it.

My favorite remains the time they had to go through a vertical dungeon created by purple worm burrows on the surface of a massive underdark cavern wall.
