D&D 5E I guess Jon Schindehette out. Bad news for D&D NEXT?

I don't think the D&D brand is taken seriously by Hasbro yet. Of course, that could (and would) change if they are able to make a D&D movie and it becomes a success.

I think this is plausible - that D&D is still waiting to emerge as a "breakthrough" piece of IP.

While Jon's contributions can't be overstated, he has made even greater contributions to the overall artist community. Through his blog ArtOrder, he provided a rallyin point to scattered artists and helped elevate quite a few from "aspiring artists" to "professional illustrators" (I count myself among them).

This got drowned out from page 2, but I'd suspect this has lots to do with it.

When I used to work at DC Comics on staff as a Sales and Marketing person, you signed away any ability to freelance in any capacity. Even when I gave a 3 weeks notice to DC and work within the publishing industry, I was shown the door that day. Also the salaries shown are in line with publishing industry standards.
