"Nice design motif," notes Carradoc. Checking the handle for traps (and trusting there are no obvious magical warning bells going off in Carradoc's head), he opens the door.

You discover armed lizardfolk!

This room is filled with a rank reptilian smell and cluttered with tattered animal hides and dank straw. A battered iron brazier brimming with hot embers glows in the middle of the room. Half-gnawed carcasses heaped beside the brazier attest to an indifferent effort to cook them over the coals. There are two doors: one north and one south.

Parties turn.

Kubeba looked into the room, it almost seemed quite "normal" and no evil hag was lurking around. Entering his rage he leaped into the room and started attacking.

Maighan calls out in the Druidic tongue, the strange language that speaks to the spirits of nature. The stones of the floor shiver and crack, and writhing green tendrils lance from those cracks to grow around and over the lizardmen on the north half of the room!

(Entangle centered on the point on the corner of AX/AY, 45/46. The 20' radius will target all 5 lizardmen, leaving Row 50 and all spaces south of it clear and open. Lizardmen must make a DC 16 Dexterity save or be Restrained. If restrained they may use their action to make a Str or Dex check to escape vs the same DC. All squares from row 49 on up are Difficult Terrain for the duration of the spell.)

Carradoc hesitates for a moment, and already his comrades have sprung into action. From where he stands, he cannot see where the enemy are. He darts into the room, makes a quick assessment and fires a chilling beam at on enemy before withdrawing again.
OOC: Move to BA 50.
Chill touch [roll0], damage = [roll1] necrotic if a hit. Target will be BA52 (if still standing). If not, target will be BA 47 (who may be restrained; if so, attack will have advantage, so better of above roll and [roll2].

OOC: Currently: HP 51+10 temp., AC 17; spells 3/3/2/1.

Thaliss starts waving his staff and mumbles arcane words. An opaque swarm of nasty looking black bats with red eyes and elongated daggerlike teeth appears at the entrance of the room, surrounding those that are next to Thaliss. The bats pass through Carradoc and Maighan, and they seem to become translucent, revealing that they are indeed illusions. Thaliss telepathically says to the barbarian in the room and his companions this is an illusion, to block the door.

He then commands he familiar to move to the closer to the water to act as a sentry (occ: square BE50)

Kubeba wounds two of the lizardfolk.

Maighan entangles an area, three are restrained.

Carradoc finishes off a wounded lizardfolk.

Thaliss creates his illusion.

Lizardfolk try to break free from restraint. One succeeds.

One snakedude can't quite get into melee with anyone and tries to bash "bats" with his club. He now doesn't believe the illusion and huffs.

Three melee attacks against Kubeba, one against Carradoc in the illusion. And... not a single hit.

Parties turn.

Thaliss continues his arcane mumbling and casts again his illusion, the new one meshing seamlessly into the previous one, now engulphing his companions in the room.

Bats fly around Carradoc, and voices speak in his head. Suddenly, they are shapes of bats and he can see through them. I've never liked illusions, he thinks, but has the sense not to speak aloud. Nevertheless, the eyes of one of these opponents settles on him, and Carradoc realizes the creature has seen through, to him. Him.

He draws his dagger and stabs, before withdrawing. He doesn't want to leave Kubeba, but he also doesn't want to release a fireball with his comrade in its middle. "I want to burn this place" he says.

OOC: Action: stabs at BA49 [roll0], with [roll1] piercing damage if a hit.
Move to BC 50. This will draw an opportunity attack from AZ51 (who I think hasn't seen through the illusion) but not from BA49, because of the mobile feet.

Steve Gorak

Adventurer
ooc: Thaliss recast the illusion, so the lizardman would need to interact with it again. Carradoc should be ok, and the opportunity attack ought to be at a disadvantage, since he is unseen...
