After passing on the information, The Nameless creeps back under the boulder and presses on, doing his best to walk silently and keep his ears keen.

Legend
The Serpent's Throat

After the point where the two tunnels rejoin, the tunnel widens. Clear to everyone, in particular to Dellrack's dwarven eyes, this area was much easier to dig. Unfortunately, the side-effect was that it was much more difficult to keep supported. Wooden supports were brought in to keep the walls and ceiling up, yet still, sand and water have been steadily seeping through the cracks.

Finally, a wide-flat wood-supported hall leads to a short flight of wooden stairs up to a solid-looking door, flanked by sputtering torches. Strangely, the door has no latch, lock, or handle - instead there is a rusty steel lever on the wall beside it.

The Nameless creeps cautiously up the stairs to listen at the door. Hoping to get a feel for what is on the other side.

Dellrak wanted so badly to set up his bear trap in the older, dark tunnel, but again couldn't be sure as to how the group was getting out of The Coils. His gut told him that they were "coming in the backdoor", to this complex, so to be sure he voiced his thoughts at the tunnel fork.

"I think this be an escape route we be using to get in, Rodrigo,"
the dwarf said musing over the guards and the spiked juncture.

When the group reaches the stairwell and odd door, the dwarf grins in triumph. "See. It be the backdoor." he says quietly. "Ye come out from inside, ye don't usually come in through it."

The dwarf tries to keep silent, but it is difficult with all his newly acquired gear.

Legend
Nameless crept up the stairs, making not a sound - no creak of the wood, no squelch of the mud on his boots. He listened at the door and could hear some commotion beyond. The door was thick, and would probably block most sounds, but he was certain that there was shouting, perhaps some sort of battle. Experience told him that there was almost no possibility that anyone out there could hear anything going on in here. It was safe to speak.

Turning to the others The Nameless did speak. "There's a fight. It may be the other team." He waited to give the others a chance to prepare and propose a plan of action.

Crossbow loaded Dellrak takes a position off to the side at the bottom of the stairs. "Ready in case someone be hot-footn' it out."

OOC: Also don't want to be at the base of the steps in case there is any type of trap about.

Rodrigo nodded sharply

"This may be the back door, or it may be the actual entrance of the tunnel." He drew his rapier with a flourish and added "Be careful, we don't know who our allies are - and they don't know who *we* are either... Perhaps if we demanded for the artifact loudly said allies will catch on?"

"Pull the lever, and stand out of sight," suggests Miss Imogen. "Whoever is above is focused elsewhere. Our enemy will be the ones who aren't surprised, and who look for reinforcements. If you are i doubt, follow my lead."

She says this clearly and quietly. Her words were an order, but were not given to any individual. They were still learning to work together, and if another plan were adopted, she would be ready in any case.

OOC: Preparing for Insight if necssary to determine motives of any appearing. But perhaps it will all be obvious.
