So, an incompetent director, Solomon, is ripping off a competent director, Roth. And he is making torture porn, itself a cheep trick of a movie.

Well, the film itself looks more like a Saw rip-off, with the marketing making it look like a Hostel rip-off.

I reckon that someone had a psychological thriller type script (something a bit like Phone Booth, but grimmer), and someone else hacked it up (double meaning intended) to get a film out quickly to cash in on the torture craze, before everyone got sick of the subgenre (double meaning intended).

I didn't realize Roth has the monopoly on torture horror porn. That's like the creators of D&D has the exclusive right to make the only medieval fantasy RPG.

As for the incompetence part, I have no objection.
