The party leaves town and heads west, along the riverbank. The ground flattens out, becomes marshy, sticky. Mangroves grow up and around, making travel increasing treacherous--there is less "ground" here than there is plants and water.
Up ahead, Karl notices that there is someone else out here--someone has lit a campfire and sits, waiting up ahead on the only patch of somewhat-dry ground.
