Looking for a good Water Mage/Elementalist PrC/class

I am thinkin of making a water mage next time I play. I like the Elemental Savant a lot, but I'm interested in other options. I'm looking for something pure elemental...not nautical. Thanks :)

Take a peek at Mongoose's Encyclopedia Arcane - Elementalism. A non-standard approach at making elemental mages, but interesting nevertheless.

I personnally like the "techniques" which allow trading prepared spells for some cool effects. It's quite balanced, IMHO, as the effects are generally weaker in power than the spells you burn, but you gain flexibility. And there's capturing/using elementals, etc.

The rules can be changed to give "Elementalist" powers as a PrC. It is mentionned in the book that it's basically guidelines for DM's.

Quintessential Wizard has also Elemental Mage "Character Concepts". Much like a Specialist, but with elements, not schools.

Also, look at templates in the MM and MoP (or MoF). I believe there are a few there that might be interesting for flavor, if you're willing to have some +ECL (like Half-Elemental).

I'd also highly suggest Spell Thematics, as there aren't too many spells flashy enough to really get that sort of image across easily, and it's a pretty good feat since they errated it too.

I checked out the QuintWiz Sea mage....to Nautical. I will look into the other things you mentioned definitly. and yea depending on how broad a them a DM will let me take Spell Thematics might do the job...I'd still like a class or prestige class to go with it to tho. Thanks guys keep it coming

I would reccomend NAtural 20 book Elements of Magic . YOu could learn all the water spell lists as well as Ice, steam, and other related elements.

I discussed it with my DM, and he liked the idea. My group is always worried about play balance and we're usually "by the book", but the Encyclopedia Arcane opens up a lot of RP potential, like finding an Elemental Academy or some such.

The campaign revolves around casters each having an "element" in any case, so it fits perfectly.

My wizard is still going Elemental Savant (Fire), and he'll be trying out the "techniques" as a non-elementalist, until he finds the "Academy", and becomes a real one.

We're in testing mode right now for play balance. :)
