Greed eyes look ruefully up at where the queen's ice castle is supposed to be. "It might be a thing to see," Charity begins, trudging ahead in the snow as she speaks, breath forming visible steam in the cold air. She continues, "even if it is the center of this kingdom's troubles. However, I think I favor the Cathedral of Glass for that sparkles-in-the-sun look, even before I see this ice castle. Who know? Perhaps I will change my mind upon seeing it."

~ Day 20, noon: Snowy foothills of Yarendel ~

The group of insurgents (er.. adventurers) returned to trudging in the snow, following the rough direction that Oaken told them. Shortly after rumbling stomachs force another break for some lunch.

Resuming once more, the elevation gradually increased as they climbed higher in the mountain slopes. It was still somewhat overcast, but not ominously so. The uphill trek was slow going with at least a foot to 18 inches of powdery snow that feet sank into with each step. The terrain was full of snow covered fir trees and boulders often obstructing the way forward, necessitating going around or in between.

A few hours later, rounding once such bolder revealed a frightening presence. A pair of creatures was standing in wait, like men yet half again the height of most human men and covered with a coat of thick white fur. They had long arms with sharp, dagger like claws. They roared frighteningly, a cold blast of wind assaulting the bare skin of the group’s faces.

They moved to attack!

Yosephus was was surprised when the two furry creatures came out.

He managed to calm down and focus on attacking.
"Uh oh," he mumbled. "Here comes another battle. ""

Then, the cleric trudged quickly to a place where he could get a clear shot at the yeti. He dropped his shield, and took out his crossbow.
Yosephus fired one shot at the furry creature. The arrow hit the yeti's fur and bounced off.

'It probably made him more angry...' he thought, and got ready to fire once more.

As the yeti roar, a puddle of steaming yellow snow appears under the not-so-valiant warpig. Bacon has frozen in his tracks. Francis is angered by his pig's futility. "You're more of an ass than a pig!" He hops off the pig, then gives a good looksie over at the yeti. Francis filches around for a scrap of white fleece in his belt pouch; once secured he begins to mumble a little ditty:

"Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
where it's so white as snow,

Privately divided by a world so undecided
and there's nowhere to go."


Immediately it appears as if the snowstorm begins to rage, depositing mounds and mounds of snow in front of the offending yeti! The halfling whispers to the group, "Maybe that will give us a chance to breath for a moment... Perhaps we should draw them in a bit and surround them?"

As the Yeti howl, Charity tilts her head down, partially shielding her face from the frigid air. Feeling it subside, she pushes forward, trudging through the snow until in striking distance. With a mighty heave, she swings her hammer in a powerful arc at the closer of the two monsters, hitting nothing but air and snow. White powder kicks up as her weapon hits ground before she cocks it back into striking position, flying away in the stiff winter breeze. "Good start, as usual," she comments, no surprise to her voice.

2. Those it doesn't mention specifically, the wording implies that your target must understand your language to suggest anything.
3. I will roll the Saves.

Not important question, what is the actual flavor/vintage of the wine Francis bought? I'd like to use the details possibly later on in his life.[/sblock]

~ Day 20, early afternoon: Snowy foothills of Yarendel ~

Francis reasoned that the Yeti (he recalled that is what the creatures were) had immunity to cold and potentially a vulnerability to fire. He could not recall what languages, if any that they spoke.

While Charity suspected the mound of snow was an illusion, as soon as she stepped forward she knew it to be true.

The yeti on the left tried climbing over the wall and its stumbling comic result took significantly longer than it would have to simply walk through the illusion. It left itself open to attack from the paladin.

The Yeti Charity struck at stepped in closer and found that he had no trouble finding the person on the other end of the polearm that struck at him. He roared and took a swipe in return. The claws raked across the paladin's armored front and scratched some exposed skin. The touch was also extremely cold and painful like a burn.
