[sblock=OOC]No worries on my part, Trogdor. That's the nature of cooperative storytelling; it's part of the fun. There was plenty of time for me to object but I wanted to see how it played out. And acting in character, Aelspeth wouldn't have aggressed in this scene but now she's ready to magically wreck some face. She'll never complain about occasions to cast.[/sblock]

Arradon Delgaran

[section]

As Rak'tan rushed towards Raellynn, Arradon caught sight of one of the hounds rushing for his position. An unnerving smile crosses his lips, taunting any who would follow him. He turns and disappears into the mist Autumn had conjured. It's concealing presence a comfort and asset to the elf.

[sblock=OOC]It was totally fine with me. Even if Levanna wasn't inclined to protect the pixie already due to her past, I as a player don't mind a little dramatic tension between characters as long as it doesn't spill over to OOC tension.[/sblock]

Aelspeth Noromiel, Novice Conjurer

Aelspeth recovers quickly from her initial shock and determines to end this altercation before it gets any uglier. She yanks on Kasmir's reins with one hand as she thrusts the other into her component pouch. Kasmir half-rears with a snort, turns, and Aelspeth kicks her heels into the palomino's ribs. In the back of the young elf's mind, a small voice whispers, Coin well spent, training him for war...

From her pouch Aelspeth withdraws a tiny vial, about as long and slender as her little finger and filled with sand dyed red, blue, and yellow. Kasmir's hooves pound earth for only a moment, bringing his rider within range. The novice conjurer raises the vial high overhead and throws it to the packed dirt path where it shatters on impact. The sands whoosh up into the air and develop into a tricolored cloud. Aelspeth leans into the miasma and inhales deeply as she rides. She tastes ozone and smiles at the thought of mystical energies crackling around the motes that now dissolve in her bloodstream.

Aelspeth shouts, "Qe frivina ini kluchuduun!". She roars triumphantly as she completes the spell, claps her hands together close to her chest and extends them out, palms forward. There is a blindingly white flash centered near her breast that instantly erupts into a dazzling cone of prismatic light. The fourth Harran hound is utterly encompassed in the light.

GlassEye

Adventurer
On the Road to Kingsholm

When Arradon disappears into the mist the hound halts at the edge of the wisping magics and sniffs for the elf’s scent. The mist curls around the white hound inviting it to follow but the hound turns and sights in on easier, or at least closer, prey.

The hound hits Rak’tan from the side and clamps unnaturally strong jaws down on the tiefling’s leg. As far as injuries go, Rak’tan has had worse, but the beast twists its head and pulls Rak’tan off balance. Paws plant in the dirt and pull and Rak’tan topples over and lands heavily in the road.

Raellynn sneers down at Rak’tan but turns and leaps away from the fighter drawing his bow as he retreats. The speed with which the Harran moves is amazingly fast and in just a few seconds he is long yards down the road. Raellynn stops and whirls back around to face Rak’tan again. In a single swift move he draws an arrow, nocks it, and draws the string back to his cheek. And holds…

On the far side of the obscuring mists summoned by Autumn, the other Harran hound emerges from Aelspeth’s prismatic lights with magic tinting its white fur in kaleidoscopic colors that rapidly fade. The hound’s teeth are bared in obvious hostility and it leaps at Aelspeth attempting to drag her from her mount.

Perhaps it wasn’t wholly unaffected by Aelspeth’s magic: the hound slams into Kasmir’s broad chest and rebounds, knocked to the ground. It gets up, still growling and shakes its head unsteadily.

GM: Round Two: Everyone is up.
Raellynn provoked an AoO from Rak’tan when he fled.

Map
Black Circle is the limit of the obscuring mist.

Note: Raellynn is 50 ft away from Rak’tan. There isn’t enough length to the map to position him properly so his token is shuffled off to the side.

I don’t hate Rak’tan. Really. It just seems he has a tendency to get separated from the rest of the group and get pounded on. At least he isn’t unconscious like the last time. A few extra hit points make all the difference.

Arradon Delgaran

[section]

Arradon strides out of the mist, a foreboding figure in black. He advances on the two unconscious hounds with grim purpose. He turns towards the hound that is beginning to stir from its slumber and delivers a vicious stomp to its throat. The bones make a sickening crack as the elf's boot makes contact.
