It gets good reviews because finally 3.x has mechanical themed base for steampunk adventures but its ultimate abilities especially in Pathfinder is lackluster. Its spell list is small and prototypes are mechanically identical to extracts except that there are more extracts and more modifications for them. The companion isn't intelligent with a cheap imitation of shared spells. The weapon's bonus feats are feats that either are just okay or something a build would already have for x weapon strategy. The analyzer is decent for scouting, divination, and knowledge plus have the best augmentations. However the real good really stops there repair is a limited version of channel for constructs. Axiom is just a spontaneous caster's spell known slot for dispel. The gadgets are easily outdone by spells and other class abilities. Then there are only bonus feat like abilities in which any other respective can probably do better than you.
As for flavor it tried to add this idea of mobius but it doesn't pop up in any of the mechanics of the class making it vestigial. All in all the worst moderate caster in the game and can't really take a good role in which another class isn't better. I am tempted to draw up a fix and send it.
