Master of Orion or Else?

You are correct -- I haven't seen any PC games on grand stategic scale.

Speaking of Grand Stategic; anyone ever play the board game, "The Guns of August"?

It is the coolest board game I ever played -- plan on two - four people spending several hours setting the counters up and reviewing the rules.

Hmmm, I have to admit that I prefer turn based games.

And I have played many games of MOO2 over networks, modem and over the internet.

But then, I really don't like RTS much, with the singular exception of Homeworld.

A strategy game IMO should be RTB. What general has the lux of spending all the time needed make a decision -- command decision and do it man :D damn the torpedos full speed ahead!

Actually I wish the two, Turn and Real bases, could be messed.

Mixed? Then MoO3 may be for you. The turn-based part comes from choosing your empire's finances, policies, technology, orders for unit creation, politics, etc., while the actual combat is RTS. It really perks you up from that slouching position when you try to muster your forces together while getting hammered by superior enemies.
