I'm reverse-engineering the Mazes and Monsters RPG rules, using the movie as a primary source. Because the movie's creator Rona Jaffe knew so little about D&D, her rules are AMAZING.

For instance: Mazes and Monsters seems to use ONLY THE D12

I did like the scene with the Gorbill, way back in 80's. I haven't seen the movie since then though.

I remember reading back then a book called "Hobgoblin" that covered a similiar subject, though I don't remember much. I think it was written by John Coyne.

Hobgoblin was name of the rpg the main character was playing and though my memory is sketchy, I think that he had lost his favorite uber character to a bad die roll then lost his mind throughout the rest of the book.

Has anyone else read this book? And more importantly, do they have a better memory than me?
