Anyone playing this yet? Just got in a PbP game and we are just starting, so things are slow right now.

Besdies the horrible editing which I am just getting used to from Mongoose, I like what they have tried to do.

Would love to hear what you all think...

I don't tend to notice editing unless it is really bad, as I suck at it myself :D but so far I am liking what I see...

Where are you doing the PbP? I would love to get into one myself... not ready to GM anything extra right now but I really do want to play.

My one concern so far is the Adv/PrC classes... I would love to start out at 1st level, just out of basic training, but you can't really even have a 'Medic' in training or whatnot as your two skills are Cross-Class, like the others. I understand and it is cool... the idea that you have to 'prove' yourself before you are allowed this Cross-Training Specialties, but it is a bit harder for a RPG stand-point to have to wait or to have more powerful NPC filling those roles.

I was thinking of adding MSO -basic training to first level that would give players one Cross-Class skill as a Class Skill (a fewer version of Advance Training that you get at 5th), but see some problems that will come from that also... not sure yet

I don't feel it would really affect game balance to much to let each player swap out a class skill for a cross-class one to reflect the specialty training given by the military. That way you coulf have your Medic/Comm Specialist/Whatever without worrying about relying so much on NPC's.

I haven't picked up the book yet, but I think I will. Seems pretty cool, and I appreciate the minis from the tactical game.

What approach to the Starship Troopers Universe does the RPG take. The book, movie, or animated series?

I haven't picked the book up yet but from what I understand it uses info from all three.
