Which ones are you referring to as obscure?

Anything from an RPG that hasn't been published since Reagan was president can probably be considered obscure. Or really anything from an RPG. The scout ship from Traveller is probably going to be misidentified as a Star Destroyer more often than it is to be identified.

Silent Running is from a 70s flick so yah that one I would say is obscure.
Yamamoto is a widly popular and quite aged Anime. (*edit - better identified as Space Battleship Yamato)
Liberator is Blake 7

The best test for determining if someone is a Blake 7 fan is ask them the first thing they think of when you say Avon.
If they say make-up and not Paul Darrow, well they havent seen Blake 7
