Multi Attacks Question

Hi

i am not sure with the Rules about Tow Wepons.
What woud be the attack sequence for a Fighter 2 / Cleirc 8 with
Two Weapon fighting, improved Two Weapon Fighting mit
Long and Short shotrtsword.
Base AT would be 8

Primary Hand 8/2 with mali from TWF would be 6/0
Scondary Hand would be 6 /1??
6 for the first Attack and 1 ( -5 for the seond due too improved TWF? )

That woud be + 6 + 0 / + 6 + 1

Correct so?

Best regards

Khelvan.

Primary hand: +6/+1

Off hand: +6/+1

BAB is -5 from highest for each subsequent attack, not -6,

Then insert other modifiers - Str bonus to attacks

For damage add Str bonus to primary hand but off hand only gets 1/2.

See two weapon fighting table on page 160 of PHB for penalties for fighting with 2 weapons

-2 on primary hand and -2 on off hand for 2 weapons, TWF feat and off hand weapon being light.

This all assumes you are using 3,5 not 3.0 where the rules are a lot different for this.

Thanks

that anwers the Attack Sequence question.
We are using 3.5 Rules should have stated that.
Have one more point i need some advice on.
The rules state that one gets only have strengh bonus on Damage
on the second weapon. Does this count also for to hit?
If one has a streng of 16
Woud you geht +3 to hit on the second weapon or only the + 1 like
the reduced damage bonus?

And if one gets + 3 to hit then why only half damage?

Best regards.

From your example you would still be at +3 to hit with the off hand but only do +1 damage.
I expect they went for this design to keep it balanced with two handed weapons which do one and a half time damage.

You get bonus on to hit but only 1/2 for damage - just like the rule say.

In general do exactly what the text in the rules say - like in this case it says

PHB pg 8

Damage rolls when using a melee weapon or a thrown weapon
(including a sling). (Exceptions: Off-hand attacks receive only one
half the character’s Strength bonus, while two-handed attacks
receive one and a half times the Strength bonus. A Strength
penalty, but not a bonus, applies to attacks made with a bow that
is not a composite bow.)

As far as the reason behind it, Arun Thule is probably at least partially correct.

It also might be that it is easier to hit something then to do increased damage - basically in order to get your strength behind a blow (in essence doing more damage) you need to get your weight balanced correctly and your off-hand is less focused than your primary one.

In 3.5 no one is assumed to be ambidextrous, everyone is assumed to have a primary and an off hand.

If you want to increase damage, use Two Weapon Fighting with a two handed weapon as your primary and armor spikes as your off hand.

Also, if you can add natural weapons to your attack routine, that'll increase your damage. Bite attacks are pretty easy to get, and the feat Deepspawn gives you 2 tentacles that don't interfere with your weapons.
