Alecto watched Grub dubiously. She glanced at Slade and asked, "Is there some reason we're going into a giant spider hole? Are we looking for more giant spiders? Because I was thinking one was plenty."

Once Grub clears the hole, Deathvine crouches at the hole and sprinkles the sticky rungs of the ladder with dirt from the lip of the entrance. The plant cocks its head at the others and jumps into the hole, extending its wings once it clears the narrow portion of the tunnel to break the fall.

"I usually not up for Bug Hunts. But it seems like that critter was a scavenger. There may be some more goodies down there. Or a clean source o' water. Spiders gotta drink to right?" He glanced down the hole. "Though I'm happy them guys are goin in first!"

Oriented correctly, Grub descends with the torch, with the rest behind. Near the bottom of the web ladder the torch's light illuminates the space below.

The tunnel opens into the center of a roughly square chamber, six feet high 30x30 feet wide. The floor below is dirt, and uneven slanting right to left.

Scattered across the ground all around the chamber are more copper coins. Dozens lay singly or in small loose piles, some lightly covered in dirt while others are half buried. About six small bones no larger than six inches long can be seen as well.

The most prominent feature of the chamber however, is to the left of the ladder. There, a 10 foot wide section of a gray metal wall is exposed. A door, also of gray metal, stands in a sturdy frame in the center of this exposed wall.

The door has a thick pull handle on the right side as you face it. Above the door is a small three inch wide cage from which a few copper wires hang carelessly.

The wall, frame and door all have dents, some rust and dirt on their surfaces, but look quite solid. In the flickering torchlight, faint words painted in neat block letters can still be read:

AN ILLUMINATED DANGER LIGHT INDICATES THIS DOOR IS SEALED AND ELECTRIFIED. ANY CONTACT WITH THIS DOOR MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

Alecto frowns, suspecting the spider probably got its water by sucking the juices out of its prey, but proceeds down the ladder anyway. At the very least she didn't want to just sit and watch as her companions were cut down...and her defenses had proven effective against huge spiders.

Grub looks at the door for a brief moment but since it is clearly ancient he leaves it alone. After all, he's never been allowed to mess with ancient items (technological or not) before and the one time he did sneak off with one of the village's old tech items he broke it. So, instead, he hunkers down on the dirt floor and picks up coins shuffling them into a little pile until the others make it down.

Deathvine picks up one of the heavier copper coins and tosses it against the door with a sharp PING! "Well there aren't charred remains at the foot of the door at least."

Slade lets the Replicant go first and follows soon after.
Once down the ladder he readies his crossbow again and looks quizzically at the others.
"What we got?"

Clyde put away his bow and climbed down after the others, it was clear there was at least some valuables here, no sense in passing them up. His eyebrows shot up as he caught sight of the out of place door.

Well now, what do we have here? He tugged at the loose skin that hung from his neck as he said this. He considered the door for a little bit, then as if to signal the end of his contemplation he spit on the floor of the chamber. That's interesting, bet there's something good in there.

Maybe we can pull it open, got any rope?

Leaving the coins on the ladder alone for now (I assume) Grub collects 79 copper coins into a pile, until Deathvine throws one against the door.

The coin bounces off the door with a metallic ping and comes to rest in the dirt.
