Alecto frowns as she reads the warning on the door, then peers at the wires near the top of it.

"Everyone, just hold on a second. This might be dangerous to touch."

(Would it be a tech roll to see if the security system is still working, without actually touching it? :))

A tech roll can be made by one person with another assissting. Just declare who the two are and I will roll.

Given the relative simplicity of the door, and no apparent evidnence of anything complex like a control panel, only a half hours examination of the chamber would be required.

"Hmmm you could be right..." Slade replied. "Lets check it out...careful like."

OOC: Since it was Alecto's idea Slade will assist.

Alecto studied the door, its instructional text and the cage above. "Electrified", taken in combination with the terms "serious injury and death" were an obvious threat to deter trespassers.

After half an hour of close observation , Alecto noted the lack of activity of the wires in the cage and no visible lock, or other Ancients devised way of controlling the door. She also noted that Deathvine's coin met no ill effect upon contact with the door. Convinced of the facts, Alecto finally touched the door with her sword.

Nothing happened.

With a look to Slade, she and the Human probed the edges of the door. Apart from thick hinges holding the door to the wall, there seemed no indication of lock or obstruction. In fact, the closed door did not look to be secured in any way.

While the unevenness of the chamber floor might slow the door's opening, nothing evidenced that the door would not open or kill the opener.

Satisfied, Alecto sheathed her sword and nodded.

"It's safe. It doesn't look like it's meant to be opened from the outside, but we might be able to force it. We'll need something to work into the edge here, to pry it with."

"A crowbar would be ideal...if not, anything strong and flat will do."

Deathvine sniffs all around the edge of the door to see if there is a specific spot that would be better to pry at. It also knocks out the standard "shave and a haircut, two bits" rythm on the door before they start thwapping it with a heavy metal object.

OOC - If there was an airtight seal at some point, it may have rotted away over the decades giving the plant a clue to whats inside.

Deathvine can see no specific weakness around the door. Her (Its?) knocks on the door echo deeply. The door appears to be thick and solid.

There is a slight gap between the door and the frame, but while something could be inserted there, it is too small to look through.

The mutant plant's sense of smell meanwhile, picks up the faintest of odors..it is barely detectable, and hard to place...or even describe. It simply triggers a base instinct in the plant; it is the smell of life.

"Well we think we smell something alive in there. We don't know what...but something." Its voices speak in unison again, and the underground echo makes the chorus resonate even more deeply. An involuntary shiver runs down the spines of the organics in the cave. They can't tell if its a good or bad shiver, but there it is.

Grub scoops up the coins and stows them. He'll share with the others later. He thinks about what Alecto has said about prying the door open and tries not to think about Deathvine's creepy odd voice. "Pry, pry... Shovel?" He laughs and cringes away from his nearest companion. "Stupid Grub; can't dig a hole in the door." Yes, Grub does have a shovel tied to his pack...

Clyde sniffed then spit on the chamber floor, regarding Alecto with squinty eyes for a moment. Finally he pulled off his pack and unlashed from the side a crude looking crowbar.

I reckon we're going to open it up then.

Hefting the bar, the wiry mutie approached the door and set to work.
