What the, am i reading this right.....

Cure spells, raise spells..... alll.....con..jur...ation?

What ever happened to them being good ole necromancy? i .... just dont get it?

oh...wait.... i see... you conjure up new flesh for someone!!!.... *rolls eyes*

I remember back in second *and oh my god im not saying second is better, lets not start one of those, i love third* that they were necromancy, and it made sense to me. After all necromancy the school for life/death.....

does anyone think this is right? or do they agree with me and think it should be necro?

I think necro is nerfed in D&D anyhow. It's cleric schtick and the good old necromancer specialist wizard is throwing fireballs.

Nerfed? When was it ever good? Clerics have Animate lower than wizards as far back as 2nd (IIRC) and in 1e there weren't necro specialists. At least Enervation and Ray of Enfeeblement are much improved.

Does it really matter what school raise spells are in anyway? It's a cleric spell, which aren't really based on school, and there's no save so it doesn't matter for spell focus.

Conceptually, necromancy has been redefined to deal mostly with negative energy.

Yes, When your allowed to choose a cleric or wizard spell, and nothing that
should be is available to you...its kind of annoying

Sure, but do you agree with that is the question? i dont

I'm old-fashioned and have kept healing spells as necromancy. This doesn't help wizards, but it does make for some minor improvements in how certain rules affect things.

I assume you want to be a Dread Necromancer and bring back your dead friends? Or at least heal?

no, Im the dm for a dread necro who brought it up to me.....

And i dont want to just dole out a bunch of extra stuff to him...but i just dont see it as right

me thinks im gonna have to change the schools of some spells

I can think of some good reasons not to let a dread necromancer have cure spells and raise spells. Balance for one. Flavor for another...

Player: I am a Dread Necromancer. Allow me to touch you and cure your wounds!
Other Player: Um. No?
Player: Why not?
Other Player: Because you just said you are a NECROMANCER! I don't want you doing wierd stuff with my flesh.

My Dread Necromancer was an Arcane Disciple: Undeath(or Death) whichever one gave the inflict spells(Tomb-Tainted Soul) but I could have taken Arcane Disciple: Healing instead.

Undeath rocks for Desecrate.
