Non-Item Random Treasure Generator

When I put together parcels, I always like to mix it up when it comes to the non-item treasure. The DMG gives some rough guidelines for art objects, gems, and other stuff to include besides just gold, but that takes some time up that I’d rather spend on the details of the campaign.

So, I put this app together.


  • You can enter in the gold amount you want to ‘spend’ on non-item treasure.
  • You may also enter a target level (this is used to calculate random values for some items).
  • You can elect to include gems, include art objects (and types of art objects), include trade goods (and types of trade goods).
  • You can determine ratios of what to generate
    • Gems : Other stuff (art & trade goods)
    • Art Objects : Trade Goods
  • You can determine how much gold you’re willing to have left over after random generation (between 10%and 80%)

3000 GP targeted for Level 5 with gems taking 26% of gold and art objects taking 63% of remaining gold and trade goods taking the other 37%:

50000 GP targeted for level 19 with gems taking 53% of gold and art objects taking 31% of remaining gold and trade goods taking the other 69% (also not including furnishings, jewelry, musical instruments, cosmetics, dyes, or raw lumber/metal):
