Ok, ill rewrite my post.
I remember now, I was waiting for @Quickleaf to say if the dogs collaborated or not. Im assuming they are.
Cheers,

Sg
Perfect! Yeah that’s what we were aiming for. Now to see how well it works.

If this ploy with the sled dogs works out, Aric and Jack might be exiting the scene together with the dogs, for the time being, and the rest of the party could show up for the aftermath and try to get the caravaners in deeper trouble? Would be great if we can somehow unearth evidence of the caravaners’ plots. But at least we’ve delayed them.

I don’t think we made any clear plans as a party how and where to regroup 😝

Sorry for the delay. I've had a brutal week / month. This temporarily split-party scene makes sense to me too - I'll get on posting in the IC right now.

I'm intrested. 5e...old rules or new? Anything specific you need? Do I create new character or takeover (makeover?! 😉 ) one of the inactive ones?
Hello? @Quickleaf?

I've read custom rules, fun! And since this is 2014 ruleset and no one said anything, I'd like to play rune-knight fighter
Hey MetaVoid, I appreciate your interest. Definitely would be happy to have you, though it will probably need to happen at the end of this climactic scene(s) the party is engaged in now...just for narrative consistency.

We're using the 2014 5e rules with a buuuuuuunch of my house rules (you can find them in the first post). But if there's a 2024 version of a class you like, I'm fine with you using that (just all the other rules remain 2014).

Your new character concept (from what you shared in PM) is definitely niche, and I'd want to talk with you a bit more in detail about that. Taking over an existing PC is also a possibility...though I'd want to ask the former player for permission before giving a "yea" on that.

Niche, yes...fun? Possibly :)
Fully depending on your permission? Absolutely.

You can just nix it, I'm playing rune knight, just the race will change.

I am willing to discuss ramifications or changes to be less...hm...alien? A bit less exotic, with small reskinning, he could be cold based wildman changed/empowered by the elements (water genasi or shadar-kai) or "cloud giant"(firbolg). But if goblin, svirfneblin, and faerie are treated as normal...maybe it's not really a stretch for the concept to be accepted

I am more familiar with 2014 rules, so...no problem there.

Taking over another character is usually for story continuity, I didn't read everything yet, but you're at some inn currently.

So...nothing is happening and you mentioned you're busy. I'll put few ideas out.

1. Mortal Chosen by Titans/Giant seers to fight against the goddess - sea elf has good connection with cold resist and water breathing...
2. Frost giants got hold of a human of their ancient bloodline and rune-scarred him to get the bloodline to the fore (water genasi, cold instead of acid resist)
3. Literal imbodiment of Thryms emissary, the frost giant god, bound elemental with singular purpose (warforged for no sleep, no breathing elemental), no resistance to cold though

Variations in the story such as heart of the mountain awakened when the curse hit (warforfed), mortal frozen in ice, awakened by frost giants and similar stories...from basic I fell from the fishing boat and froze, got saved but geased and powered up for combat(more warlock, less fighter, don't lke it)

Few backgrounds/secrets fit this story, but reincarnated, eternal youth, yeti and few others could work.

Maybe unarmed fighting...with ice spikes or other such (only story) details...or blind fighting

Not sure yet for method rolling, 8d6 points could end up great ot terrible, average is about 27? So safe option is basic point buy.

I'm intrigued by great circle method, but 3d6...and I have terrible luck with rolling this month 😞 which makes it better to take something fixed 🤔
