Picking up a weapon from the ground . . . how fast? Draws AoO?

Re: Initiative after waking up from Sleep

Keeping the same initiative prevents this, and if more than a round goes by before he's awakened, it's as good as being random at that point.

You could always treat a sleeping character as automatically Delaying. So if he got woken up before his next turn would normally occur, he'd keep his previous initiative. Once his next turn passes, though, he goes into Delay mode - and thus his initiative resets to the point where he is woken up.

Is you really want to get into House Rules territory, you could judge that someone cannot necessarily act immediately after waking up from a Sleep spell, and require them to wait (d10 - Initiative modifier) initiative counts from the point they are woken. (To a minimum of 1 or 0, obviously.)

Just a thought.

I'd make it easier with a few variations:

I'd allow a chance to do it all in one move without an AoO with a combination of Tumble and Quickdraw.

Use your imagination for the other combos - just Quickdraw, just tumble, etc.

That's the kind of cool move heroes make.

What we need is an Improved Improved Disarm feat, that lets you send the weapon somewhere that isn't right at the opponent's feet.

Like behind you, or over the cliff, or up into the air so you can neatly catch it and lay both rapiers against his throat.

That's the kind of cool move heroes make ;)
