For starters i've tried random name generators and a thesaurus. these aren't giving me the feel of what i'm looking for.

I would like a fantastical name for the magical force that holds my world together (e.g gravity.)

To set the stage, my world has been sundered by a catastrophic event. This magical force has not been completely destroyed therefore the world is still "complete" but shattered (shard world).

All ideas will be welcome and greatly appreciated.

Not sure if these are the kind of thing you're looking for. Some suggestions:

Ylem

Mana (q.v. Larry Niven's "What Good Is A Glass Dagger?" and The Magic Goes Away)

The Lattice

Godsbreath

Worldskein

The Tension

The Gyreweave

Suspension

Substratum

Sunsbreath

The Resonance

Tremere (treh-mer-ay, not the vampire clan)

Maelstrom

If I think of anything else, assuming they fit, I'll post them.

Still learning,

Robert

Well if you have an overall creator god of your world your could merely add Grace, Essence, Blood, Kiss, Breath... for example

Eitaria's Breath

Or simply...

Prana
Mysteria de Cijam

I was going to suggest you try foreign languages, but Deuce already did that :)

It really depends on what you like though. Maybe try Latin as well?

Tapestry is another option similar to skein and weave and lattice.

The Anchor, is another.

World Forge, World Tree, etc.

Another is to simply give it a personal name, like Atlas, or Eritrea.
