What if aspects of the Sundering leads into the Elemental Evil storyline?

What if the areas of former overlap between Abeir-Toril are weak in planar terms and then perfect weak points for elemental incursions?

Make sense or sound cool?

That would be cool. The Rise of Tiamat has a single reference to the Sundering in it - something along the lines of how Ao has made it much harder for gods to reach Toril now, which is why Tiamat is having to jump through so many hoops to make it happen for her.

I haven't got a full copy of PotA yet, so I can't say if it contains any references to the Sundering. It would be cool if it did, because it feels a lot like nobody in Faerûn is talking about what happened during the Sundering or its aftermath.
