D&D 5E PROBLEM with Banishment Spell

Why is it that people who copy and paste from an illegal PDF never reformat to hide the fact?

And what makes you think:

1. that it was a PDF, and
2. it was illegal?

There were errors in the text which would come from OCR software, but not from hand-typing. I dunno that I care much, I mean, I have lots of "illegal" PDFs of books I also have in hardcover, because PDFs are much more useful to me. If Wizards gets clever and starts selling PDFs, I'll buy them.

It isn't illegal to make a copy of a book you own for your own use.

It's entirely possible they have scanned a page or two and stored it as text, rather than as a PDF.

Never presume malice when mere incompetence, let alone fair use, is sufficient.
