D&D 5E Random Table of Weapons? Random Table of Armor?

the Jester

Legend
What's your source? Or did you come up with the probabilities yourself?

The latter. I typed the numbers out, then looked at the list and started by asking, "What are the most and least common weapons to be enchanted in my game?"

I did bear in mind the 1e random magic sword types a little bit, but only a little. In 1e, you were exceedingly unlikely to find a magical two-handed sword.

There used to be random weapon and armour tables in earlier DnD editions I believe... yep just checked my 3rd edition DMG - it has random armour and weapon tables you could use. So that is probably available in the SRD online.
Thanks!

Exactly what I wanted.

I extracted the probabilities into a spreadsheet, counted only the weapons with direct 5e counterparts, took into account the probabilities for common and uncommon weapons, and rounded/summed up into a single d1000 table.

I call this Magic Item Table Z :)
Roll d1000 on this table each time you get a "Weapon +1, +2, +3" result and want to randomize.

Check it out I've got +3 fists.

That's nothin', the mutant hooker in Total Recall had +1 boob.

Jester's chart looks good, as it's nicely weighted. It reflects that enchanting padded armor is kind of like putting expensive rims on a rusted out car that doesn't run. If you're making armor magic, stands to reason you'd spend the extra paltry amount of gold for the better chassis.

Yeah, from most D&D art it appears that you at least start from a chainmail bikini, which is conspicuously absent from the list. I cry fowl.
